February 2013- April 2013
The project involved the installation of 18,700 Photo Voltaic solar panels, with a combined energy generation capacity of approximately 4.5MW. The panels were attached to mounting frames at a height of up to 1.5m; five inverters and three transformers were located at the centre of the site.
Additional solar farm safety installations supported by Steel River Consultants included a deer fence, CCTV security cameras and the associated PIR sensors.
Providing Construction Design & Management Services
Steel River Consultants were commissioned to provide CDM Co-ordinator and safety support services to the solar farm project, the role included responsibilities such as:
- Preparation of pre-construction information pack,
- Review of project construction phase plan, and
- Completion and handover of the safety file.
As the project was led by a European company, the Steel River team worked closely with the Client, Designers, Principal Contractor and Contractors in order to ensure full compliance to UK laws and CDM regulations. In the absence of CSCS or equivalent cards, our solar farm safety role included the detailed review and completion of competency assessments and additional checks to ensure that duty holders and site workers adhered to appropriate health and safety standards.
